Week 2A - Social Media Use
The social media platforms I originally thought were geared toward personal use, all seem to work well for business as well.
Facebook started out helping keep people connected on a personal level. Sharing what they ate, where they are or what they are doing and that is still the case today. Facebook kept growing and as time went on the business ads started to increase as well. This was and is the perfect way to target your market if you own a business. Facebook had already collected all of the demographics and with some money you could target your ideal market.
On my business Facebook page, I have noticed it does not reach as many viewers as my personal one. If I make a post on that page, it will send me a message a day later offering to boost my post for a fee. So as long as you don’t mind paying a fee, Facebook is great way to promote your business.
Instagram is something I use for personal use and for informing people where my band is playing next. I only follow friends, but you can follow businesses as well, which would make it both a personal and business platform.
I have a Twitter account, but I have never used it. From what I have seen of it, it seems like it is for personal use by using messages to inform people of what you are doing and where. But I have heard it is a great business platform as well.
I don’t have a SnapChat account, but I believe it is also for personal use and you can limit the amount of time the post is up for viewing.
The social media platforms that I think are best suited for business are Linkedin and Google. From what I have seen and heard, they seem geared towards business. I have a google account that I do not use, but I do not have a Linkedin account. I will use them if I learn that it is in the best interest of my business to do so.

I like how you stated that the platforms you knew were intended for personal use also work well for business use. It sounds like you do a great job of informing people through Instagram. Great points!
