Week 4: Part1A - Aesthetics, Design & Branding

The structure, typography, design and layout could all be improved.  It was not visually pleasing at all and it certainly has the potential to be a fun website because of what they are selling.  I found it hard at first to find the navigation buttons to look around the site. I think there may be too much color when it comes to the reviews and the ordering page.  In this case, less is more. They are using a serif font in all caps and it makes it hard to read. Using a sans-serif would be more pleasing to the eye. I appreciate that they are selling a juice for kids, but it is the parents or daycare owners that are trusting this company to provide them a healthy juice. This site does not scream professional and that would worry me as a consumer.

Right away when I went to the website the initial image they displayed looked like an abandoned building with a for rent sign.  I realized that it was not abandoned, nor for rent.  Several of the photos were blurry, the icons with the circles around them did not impress me, the gallery could use more quality photos.  This is a salon and they are selling an image. Their website should only contain striking quality photos. They would benefit from paying a professional to take photos of the outside of the building, headshot’s of the employees and some nice photos for their gallery. It is their job to create an image and draw us to them, not away. I was not drawn to this salon, but I think with a few minor changes they could create a good image on their website. Once the customer arrives to the salon it is another job to keep them there and make them want to return.

Right away I love the white space they have on their website with a big pop of color.  The site screams class just from the opening page. I found the site easy to navigate through. They use an easy to read sans-serif font. The photos they are using are interactive and of high quality, which I really appreciate. They provided links to their social media pages as well as many other informative links. Everything was easy to navigate through and I appreciated that. They have created a classy and cool image for themselves and that will draw people in to inquire about a purchase.

Again, white space, love it!  Their site is so clean and it is product focused. They have the cleanest images of their products and it is so important.  Easy to navigate and the site is very functional. On the home page you can click on the product you want to learn more about. They have created such an innovative, clean and sharp image for themselves and this website speaks highly to that. I know apple can be on the pricey side, but because of their image and quality, I became an apple iPhone user several years ago and have been a mac user for about two years. I am very happy with their products and their continued strive to have a great image as well.

  1. Hi Deanna!

I agree with you about the pennyjuice site. I thought too that it may have potential but as a customer I agree that they seem hard to trust due to the lack of professional look to their website. Back to the drawing board for them, lol.
